I am giving you 12 tips to having a better year in 2011 making money with your online business…I am writing this for any online business plan whether it be affiliate marketing or e-commerce, etc.

1. Find a Niche

Yes of course this is the first thing you will need to do. If you are already in a niche business you are committed to, then you are on your way. If you are still looking, find one that interest you, maybe a hobby or activity that you like. I personally like to scuba dive so one of my first niche sites was in “scuba diving”…So take a few hours without distractions and really concentrate on what you enjoy doing and what will make you happiest…and go for it…

2. Set Goals

An intention is a declaration. It is a statement of a future result. Intentions are better than goals, wishes or dreams. They are more concrete, emotional and inspired. The secret to making intentions work for you is to write them down. Thinking alone won’t cut it. You need to communicate with your subconscious mind. When you write out your intentions for the New Year, you “command” your deeper mind to pay attention and deliver. But it won’t respond to vague intentions. Make them as clear as you can. If you were ordering a jacket from an online catalog, you’d note the color, size, material, and anything else needed to be sure you received what you wanted. Your intentions need to be very clear. What do you want? And what would be even better than that? Write it down. And be sure to have intentions for every major category in your life, from health and romance to wealth and happiness and family. Here’s your chance to dream really big.

3. Action Planning

Intentions are planning your future; scheduling is a commitment to your future. Get out a calendar and write down action steps. You won’t know every action to take, but you do know what actions to start with to get the ball rolling. Jot them down in a scheduler. This will help you clearly see what to do next. If an intention seems to be overwhelming, break it down into smaller doable steps. As the saying goes, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. How do you write a book? One page at a time.

4. Find a Mentor

Find a successful leader in your niche and learn from him or her. Your mentor should be an expert in the area in which you want to learn. In addition, he/she should be able to teach; that is, get information across in an easy-to-understand way. Some people are experts in their fields, but they cannot convey information to others clearly.

Modeling successful people who have achieved what you want provides a readymade road map to reach your goals very quickly. You can also find a generic coach outside your niche but please be careful about this as there are a lot of so called ”gurus” or “coaches” whose main goal is to sell you their expensive tools.

5. Ask Questions

Make no more assumptions. Remove the fear of asking questions. Our assumptions are only our perception of reality. They are interpretations of words and behaviors and oftentimes they are incorrect. When in doubt, ask! Say good-bye to unwanted drama.

6. Fill Your World with Positive People

Surround yourself with people who encourage, motivate, and inspire you. Create a mastermind group. Join a club of high achievers. There are so many wonderful people in this world to keep company with. It has been said we are the sum of the five people we spend the most time with. Surround yourself with people who empower and support you! Negative people in your life bring negative results and positive people bring positive results.

7. Use the Products You Promote

I really don’t understand people who are in Internet Marketing but don’t even use there own products. Can you imagine you own a coffee shop and you go buy coffee from Starbucks? What does that say about your own product? If you want your customers or members to believe in it, you better believe in it yourself. Set an example and be the product of products.

8. Attend at least 1 Major Event in 2011

If you can, do this at the beginning of the year. Most companies have major events like conventions or conferences in major countries they are in. Get to the event and bring some people with you. It is a well known fact that events create momentum in businesses. This is what the successful people do. So to be successful, you have to do it too.

9. Commit to Personal Development

Listen to self-improvement audios, read success literature, and watch inspirational and informational shows. Your brain needs to be fed to keep your momentum high. You’ll have the best year of your life as long as you stay on a quest to learn, grow, discover and awaken. Find a way you can constantly improve yourself. Set yourself a goal on how many personal development books or audios you want to read in the next 12 months.

10. Take Care of Yourself

If you’re too hard on yourself, you should know that it doesn’t do you any good. Just do the best you can and then, be good to yourself. Spend time with yourself. Work out, eat right, meditate, get out and have fun. It’s life, not a treadmill.

11. Be Professional

Treat it as a real business and be professional about it. Stop treating your business as a hobby or put it on hold when you are busy. If you have spent $1 million buying a McDonald franchise, will you stop doing business when you are too busy with other “stuff”? Treat your business as a real business and your only ticket to financial freedom. Be proud of what you do and be a professional.

12. Be Accountable

Be accountable to yourself and take responsibility of your own success or failure (hopefully not). Make yourself follow all those steps mentioned above, and more importantly, get your team members to follow as well! Forget 2010. Whether it was the best year on record or a complete disaster, learn what you can from the experience and move on. You’re always better off living in and focusing on the present.

I do honestly think if you can do all these in 2011 consistently, there is NO REASON why you can’t make money. Tell me at the end of 2011 how you did!
